How to Reach your Goals


New Year Resolutions are so 2017.  This year, let’s set goals we’ll actually stick to.  

In this week’s video,  You’ll learn all this:

  1. Be specific about the goals you want to achieve.  For example, if you want to attack our inbox (instead of procrastinating on those emails),  resist the urge to say something like “This year, I’ll be better with email.”  Instead, try:  “I’ll respond to every email within 24 hours.”  It’s specific, but also reasonable.

 

  1. Hold Yourself Accountable with an If-Then Plan.  If you want to boost your exercise routine this year set an if-then plan to hold yourself accountable  Something like “If it’s Monday, Wednesday or Friday, then I’m going to go to the gym.”

 

  1. Change your language.  Most of us spend a lot of time talking about what we “won’t do” this year.  Instead, focus on what you “will do”.  The science behind thought suppression has taught us that the more we say we won’t do something, the more our brains focus on that thing.  So, this year make “won’t” your 4-letter word and focus on what you will do instead.
